03 Apr Exploring Brooklyn Bridge Park
Brooklyn Bridge Park
A freezing and overcast day in New York, even if May has already come. Quick breakfast and train headed for Brooklyn Bridge Park.
On Brooklyn side of East River, close to High Street stop, Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of the most incredible park of New York City.
The area is composed by 6 piers and 11 sections. PIER 2 was inaugurated in 2014 for outdoor sport activities. Not just basketball (5 basketball courts, 2 covered), but handball, roller casting, bocce and outdoor fitness equipment.
I supposed to be alone there, it was 9:30 a.m. What a surprise! About 50 guys around me. A class? Maybe. While girls were roller skating, boys played challenged on the courts. 3shot, foul-free throw and after a high jump someone else tried a dunk in air. An amazing experience with a breathtaking view!
Imagine to practice outdoor sports in front of the skyline of Manhattan. Even lazier ones wouldn’t be able to resist.
Here’s a curiosity. Since 2017 Brooklyn Bridge Park hosted Brooklyn Nets for “Practice in the Park”, a great event and a unique opportunity for supporters to follow their team!
What are you waiting for? Do not forget to bring your basketball with and enjoy at Brooklyn Bridge Park!
